From recharging smart devices in the backcountry to powering lights and small appliances in times of emergency, it’s essentially the most heavy-duty flashlight you’ve ever seen.
If Tesla moves fully to the common CCS2 standard for its Superchargers and begins to offer CCS2 adaptors for existing Tesla vehicles instead of CHAdeMO adaptors (and in Europe, Tesla is now adding CCS2 leads in addition to the Tesla charging leads to its Superchargers), the tide goes out for the CHAdeMO standard.
There’s some drama around universal power strips. Certification authorities and organizations like the U.K. watchdog PlugSafe hate them for various reasons, and they’re right. They’re less safe than single-country strips. You can accidentally plug a 120v-only appliance into a 240v outlet (possibly setting it on fire), you could potentially stick paper clips into the extra holes, and such. But used intelligently by traveling professionals who check the voltage on their gadgets first, they’re perfectly safe.
This particular motherboard appears to come packed with a few additional features. For instance, this time around you get built in WiFi, more RGB control, a heatsinked M.2 slot, and active CPU VRM cooling just to name a few.

So I spoke with six frequent travelers about their go-to plug and international adapters to find the best travel adapter for every type of trip, whether you’re looking for a straightforward European plug adapter for your first trip to Paris or a universal plug adapter that you can bring with you on a yearlong world tour.

There’s no tripod socket, which would have been a plus for time-lapse use. Yes, the Osmo stands upright on its own, but it’s also very easy to bump and knock over. DJI does have a solution for mounting, the $19 Accessory Mount, but it’s not included. If you buy it you’ll be able to use the Osmo with the same mounts you’d use with a GoPro.
If you’re looking for a truly tiny travel adapter that doesn’t skimp on functionality, then look no further than the Dandelion Archetype Travel Adapter. Not only does this handy device work across most of the world (think Europe, Asia, Australia, and the US), it also boasts a sleek design that you wouldn’t expect from such a utilitarian device.
However, it’s practical enough to be a family car and the potential for zero emissions motoring justifies — to tech lovers and tree huggers at least — the price premium. Hyundai’s regular five-year warranty and annual service bills of only $160 add to the appeal.
