I have some first impressions from a very short time using the Osmo Pocket. This isn’t a review—that will come after I’ve had more time to dive in and really use all of its features. I can say that, after some time using it in the field on its own, and fiddling around with the app in the comfort of my armchair, I have a few concerns about ergonomics—but there may be a cure for some.

There are two main systems: A smart lighting system without a hub, like LIFX’s Color or TP-Link’s Smart Bulb, which connects directly to Wi-Fi. Or a system with a hub, like Philips Hue.

Good Housekeeping did a survey of travel hair dryers and recommends the $14.99 Conair Minipro, which is dual-voltage and cheaper than a transformer. There aren’t a lot of good reviews of flat irons out there, but the well-reviewed HSI Professional 1 is dual-voltage and only $40 on Amazon.

The screen makes it great as a digital photo frame, but it’s also pretty handy for controlling other smart devices around the home.
