Adjusting the gimbal position isn’t really possible when working without your phone. You can tilt up or down by swiping up or down at the right side of the LCD, and you can recenter the camera by swiping up and tapping on an icon. The former is a fine solution, the latter is inelegant.

I also appreciate the OREI because its minimalist design and functionality make it such that you’re not constantly attached to your electronics while you’re on vacation. Just charge your phone or computer when it needs some extra juice, and put it away when it doesn’t. The OREI won’t weigh you down or complicate your life with a bunch of extra outlets or USB ports.

Don’t leave the room with them still burning, in case you come back to a situation that’s already out of control.

Although it’ll run as a pure-electric under lighter throttle openings, the motor lacks the punch you get from the dedicated EV. Even if you’re in EV mode, burying the throttle brings the engine into play for a bit more shove. It fires unobtrusively, but can get a bit coarse as the revs rise.

Australians are running out of reasons to not genuinely consider a zero emissions car. Electric cars? Too expensive. Won’t travel far enough. We don’t have the charging infrastructure. They look daft.

They were enjoyable kilometres too. The Ioniq Electric’s 88kW/295Nm motor means it isn’t fast but has decent poke off the line and Hyundai Australia has tuned the suspension for our conditions so there’s a happy blend of ride comfort and handling nous.
